Model WTO
The application period for the 25th edition of the Model WTO is now open!
The McGill International Business and Trade Law Society is proud to announce that we will be sending a group of students to the 25th edition of the Model World Trade Organisation (WTO) in Switzerland. The event will take place between April 6th and 13th, 2022, in partnership with the WTO itself.

Delegates will work in committees and simulate Ministerial negotiations like those of the real WTO, focusing on this year's topic of "the WTO & Sustainable Food Systems". The negotiations will, among others, focus on the nexus of food sovereignty and food security, the environmental footprint of traded food, the sustainability of the food system, and potential obstacles to trade in food.

Please note that applicants will need to submit a CV and a letter of motivation by January 17th, 2022. The letter of motivation should consist of one page (double-spaced) and indicate the applicant's academic background, knowledge in the field, relevant work experience, and/or extracurricular involvement.

We are also happy to announce that the MIBTLS will provide some financial aid to cover the participants' registration fees.

For questions regarding the application process, the event in general or financial aid, please contact the MIBTLS at intl-buss-trade.law@mail.mcgill.ca.

Meet our delegates!
The Model WTO is the biggest simulation of the World Trade Organization negotiations in the World. Their international conference provides a unique opportunity for future decision makers to experience first hand the technicalities of the multilateral trading system. Every year since 1997, students from around the world and different educational backgrounds have been invited to Switzerland to debate and exchange on the most relevant topics related to international trade.
